Vera Bergermann's first law job was as the 1979 summer intern for the State's Attorney's Office,
Juvenile Div., Homicide Unit, on the south side of Chicago. After earning her Master's degree in taxation, she moved to Pittsburgh and opened up her own tax practice. Moving to Fort Myers in 1992, Vera worked for General Electric where she earned a customs broker license and handled disputes involving GE imports. She passed the challenge of the FL Bar on her first attempt in 1994 and opened her practice downtown after becoming a certified family law mediator in 1996. Ms. Bergermann's practice has since expanded to serve Lee, Collier, and Charlotte counties.

Shawn J. Seliger practices Family and Criminal Law with the Bergermann & Seliger Law Firm. He was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from the University of California-Davis with a degree in Political Science in 1993. Prior to becoming an attorney, he was an inner city high school teacher in South Central Los Angeles at George Washington Preparatory High School. In this capacity, he formed a student court that received local notoriety and served as an Impact Drug and Alcohol counselor. Additionally, he worked closely with members of the State of California Department of Corrections to promote prevention of Juvenile crime and substance abuse. Mr. Seliger graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 2001. In law school, he served on his law school's Moot Court team. His Moot Court team was the semi-finalist in oral arguments and received the second best brief in the John J. Gibbons National Criminal Procedure Moot Court Competition at Seton Hall University in 2001. Additionally, Mr. Seliger served as a research assistant for family law Professor Rebecca J. O'Neill and as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Paul S. Murphy, First Judicial Circuit of Illinois. After graduating from law school, Mr. Seliger served as a Certified Legal Intern and then as an Assistant State Attorney in north Florida. Upon relocating to southwest Florida, Mr. Seliger served as an Assistant Public Defender in both Charlotte and Lee County for a combined period of over two years. Mr. Seliger is a member of numerous civic and legal organizations including the American Inn of Court, Calusa Inn Chapter, Association of Family Law Professionals and the Lee County Bar Association.
