I’m finding myself extremely emotional during this divorce process. Where can I find support?

First, it’s important to realize that you’re not alone. Most people who go through a divorce find it to be an extremely stressful and emotionally taxing process. Because divorce can be such an emotional time, some people find it helpful to lean on others for support. A divorce support group is a great way to bond with others who are experiencing similar feelings and who can empathize with your stresses.

Depending on your preferences, there are a number of places you could start you search for a divorce group that’s right for you. For instance, a therapist or a minister may be able to assist you in your search for a support group. However, your local newspaper and the Internet are also good places to look for information on divorce support groups.

If you have children, you may wish to check out Parents With Partners – a national organization dedicated to helping single parents with children. The group has local chapters that frequently sponsor outings to foster a sense of community and support for single parents and their children. Other parent support groups exist to help support single parents who are alone during the holidays.
