A group in California who is against the legalization of same-sex marriage recently filed a suit in San Francisco.
Same-sex marriage has officially been legalized in the state and gay and lesbian weddings are set to start taking place next week.
Group Appeals New Law
The Campaign for California Families has gone to the appeals court to petition gay marriage on the west coast.
The group is asking the appeals court to suspend the Supreme Court ruling until Californians are able to vote in November.
On November 4, residents throughout the state will be enabled to vote on a proposed amendment that will ban same-sex marriages.
Arguments Made Against Same-Sex Marriage
The campaign has also made arguments that the high court hasn’t addressed other family code provisions regarding heterosexual marriage.
However, it did dismiss two state laws requiring male-female marriages.
According to the campaign’s attorney, Matthew Staver, “The Supreme Court’s decision has created a mess of the law regarding marriage.”
