Ban on Gay Marriages Overturned in CA

The Supreme Court of California recently denied a law that bans same-sex marriage in the state.

This new decision will reportedly invalidate any law that discriminates against, a couple wanting to marry, solely based on their sexual orientation.

Decision Rules Out Discrimination

Lawmakers in California declared that the state Constitution in known to protect a fundamental “right to marry”, and the same luxury will now be extended to same sex couples living on the West coast.

Chief Justice Ronald M. George publicly announced that any law, which discriminates on the basis of sexual orientation or any other factor in relation, should be “constitutionally suspect” in the future.

The Church Speaks Out Against Ruling

Catholic Bishop’s throughout California, as well as other opponents of same-sex marriage have been voicing their opposition to the decision since the ruling.

However, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger says he “respects” the decision and whether some oppose it or not, he doesn’t intend to overturn it in anyway.
